biegen
to turn
- Past (Präteritum)
- bog
- Past participle
- gebogen (sein)
Strong verb that takes sein when indicating a change in direction or position. It is used transitively as a weak verb to mean to bend or flex something. The transitive meaning using haben has a different past participle, gebogen versus gebogen, but the primary indicator of the auxiliary switch is the lack of a direct object in the sense of changing path. Do not confuse with the regular weak verb biegen meaning to bend an object which uses haben as its sole auxiliary for transitive usage today in common speech.
